Aaron Wan-Bissaka dominated Tottenham and Liverpool forwards and is a better defender than Trent Alexander-Arnold, Cascarino believes

If you need someone reliable to stop the world's most dangerous wingers, then pick Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

That's what Tony Cascarino believes, calling the Manchester United defender the best one-on-one right back in the country.

In Saturday's Manchester derby, Wan-Bissaka turned in a dominant display to nullify Manchester City's attack, keeping Raheem Sterling quiet.

His nine tackles at the Etihad were crucial as United earned a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

And it's not just Sterling he has kept quiet.

"Watching the Manchester derby, I was struck by one of the most extraordinary defensive performances I have ever seen," Cascarino said in .

"Aaron Wan-Bissaka, to my mind, must be the best one-on-one right back in the country — and arguably in Europe.

"In Manchester United’s win over rivals City on Saturday, the young United defender handled the threat of Raheem Sterling brilliantly. The City man had one of his least effective games and when he did break through near the end, there was Wan-Bissaka with a brilliant, last-ditch tackle.

"Similarly in United’s win over Tottenham Hotspur in midweek, Heung-min Son barely got a kick as he was marshalled so well by Wan-Bissaka, and Sadio Mane had arguably his quietest game for Liverpool against United.

"That’s three top forwards all put in the shade by the right back."

Wan-Bissaka is yet to make his senior debut for England and Cascarino feels the ex-Crystal Palace star should be played against the bigger nations.

"Which I think leaves England manager Gareth Southgate with a choice to make between two of the brightest players in the country but with different skill sets for the same position.

"Trent Alexander-Arnold is much better than his rival as an attacking force with raids forward and crosses.

"The Liverpool man is a great option for England against less dangerous opponents, but when it comes to teams that pose a real threat down the left flank — such as Belgium and Eden Hazard, then I think Southgate has to go with Wan-Bissaka. He is such a hard man to get past."
