Incredible James Maddison stat as the Leicester star scores another goal from outside the box

James Maddison is starting to make a name for himself as a long range specialist in the Premier League.

The attacking midfielder scored another goal from outside the box for Leicester in their 3-0 win over Newcastle on New Year’s Day.

The 23-year-old has scored eight goals from further than 18 yards since the start of last season, which is more than any other player.

Maddison now has six Premier League goals for Leicester this season as they continue their impressive campaign.

Ayoze Perez got the first goal against Newcastle in the 36th minute before Maddison added a second three minutes later when he fired into the top corner.

Hamza Choudhury rounded off the scoring with a third late on.

The Foxes remain second in the table with 45 points from their 21 games but are still ten points off league leaders Liverpool, who also have two games in hand.

There was no place in the Leicester squad for the Premier League’s top scorer Jamie Vardy, who has 17 goals in 18 games.

Vardy, 32, missed the 2-1 win at West Ham at the weekend to attend the birth of his daughter.

He was fully expected to return to the starting XI for the New Year’s Day clash with the Magpies.

But Brendan Rodgers did not call on his star man for his side’s opening game of 2020, with Kelechi Ịheanachọ and Ayoze Perez leading the attack, as Vardy is understood to be suffering with a minor calf problem.
