Tottenham transfer gossip: Harry Redknapp says Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos ‘would set Spurs alight’ in place of injured Harry Kane

Harry Redknapp has told talkSPORT he ‘would love’ to see Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos join Tottenham in the January transfer window to fill-in for injured Harry Kane.

Spurs fans are urging their club to sign a new frontman this month after talisman Kane was ruled out for FOUR MONTHS with a hamstring injury.

The club have been linked with a number of forwards, with reports claiming they have already agreed a deal to sign AC Milan’s Polish ace Krzysztof Piatek.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani and Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa – who thrived at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho – have also been linked.

But Redknapp says Morelos would ‘set the place alight’ if he moved to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

According to reports in Scotland this week, as many as 12 clubs are tracking the Rangers star who has scored 28 goals this season, although manager Steven Gerrard has issued several ‘hands off’ warnings to any suitors.

Redknapp joined Friday’s Sports Breakfast to share his thoughts on the day’s top stories, and he was quizzed on whether the Colombian bad boy would be a good fit for his old club.

“What about the screwball at Rangers,” asked talkSPORT host and former Celtic schooolboy Alan Brazil. “Are you having him?”

And Redknapp replied: “I would take him, yeah. I’d have a go [at signing him]. He is right up my street.”

“Listen Harry,” said Rangers legend Ally McCoist. “If you can handle Paulo Di Canio you could handle Morelos, that’s all I’m saying to you.”

Redknapp added: “I’ll have him, I’d love him! He could come and set the place alight, couldn’t he.”
