Manchester United complete shock signing of Odion Ighalo, West Ham leave it late to sign Jarrod Bowen: What happened on deadline day?

So the January transfer window has finally slammed shut after a month of endless speculation - and a rather anticlimactic day produced a late flurry of excitement.
Around 10pm, the better question might've been 'what didn't happen on deadline day', as most of the big deals we were expecting failed to go through.
Chelsea failed to land Dries Mertens and Olivier Giroud stayed at Stamford Bridge, despite interest from Inter Milan, Lazio, and Tottenham. It makes you wonder why the Blues bothered lifting their transfer ban in the first place.
Tottenham also failed to land the striker they wanted to replace the injured Harry Kane, although Jose Mourinho will be content with the business he has done this month, having signed Steven Bergwijn and Gedson Fernandes and turned Giovani Lo Celso’s move into a permanent deal.
A number of clubs did pull off late deals, however, with Arsenal adding a defender to their squad and Manchester United bagging themselves a striker in the final stages of the window to go with their £68m signing of midfielder Bruno Fernandes earlier in the week.
West Ham also beat the deadline to snap up one of the best talents outside the Premier League.
Here are the deadline day highlights, in case you missed anything...
Manchester United complete shock signing of Odion Ighalo
Manchester United completed the signing of 30-year-old striker Odion Ighalo on a six-month loan from Shanghai Shenhua in a dramatic late deadline day move.
The former Watford striker agreed a last-minute deal to join the Red Devils before a deal was rushed through before the 11pm deadline.
Ighalo, the Nigeria international, emerged as a late target for both United and Tottenham, who also tried to pull off a similar deal but saw their approach rejected.
However, United were able to push through a deal at the eleventh hour, despite issues with the time difference and the ongoing travel situation caused by the coronavirus outbreak in China.
