Man City starlet D’Margio Wright-Phillips, Ian Wright’s grandson, scores stunning solo goal AGAINST Arsenal in FA Youth Cup

Blackburn booked their place in the FA Youth Cup semi-finals on Friday night with a stunning thrashing of Arsenal.

Rovers' Under-18s beat their north London counterparts 4-1 to join Chelsea, Manchester United and Man City in the last-four of the tournament.

It was a fine performance from Blackburn with Sam Burns opening and closing the scoring either side of strikes from D'Margio Wright-Phillips and Luke Brennan.

Arsenal did finally get on the scoresheet, but Mazeed Ogungbo's injury time finish past Jordan Eastham was nothing more than a consolation goal.

Amid all the excitement for Rovers, it was Wright-Phillips' superb solo goal that really stood out.

And the strike, which made it 2-0 on the night, was even more newsworthy given it was scored against Arsenal by the grandson of one of their all-time legends - Ian Wright.

D'Margio Wright-Phillips is the son of former Chelsea, Man City and England winger Shaun, who, in turn, is the adopted son of Ian Wright.

Big things are expected of the 18-year-old right-sided player, who is part of Man City's academy system.

He currently plays for Blackburn on a youth loan from City, joining Rovers in January until the end of May. He has also been capped at Under-16 and Under-17 level by England.

Speaking ahead of Friday's match, Wright-Phillips was quizzed about being brought up in a family filled with footballers.

"There’s not as much pressure on you as people say," the youngster told . "I just want to work hard to get as good as they were and to achieve what they both achieved.

"They worked so hard to achieve what they did in the game, and that’s what I have to do, too.

“It’s very good to have them around, because when I am down or have had a bad game I can always pick up the phone to them.

“They both give me advice and it’s great to know you have backup there to help you through the difficult moments."
