RB Leipzig chief Oliver Mintzlaff dismisses claims that Liverpool and Chelsea target Timo Werner could leave club this summer
RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff has insisted he is 'deeply relaxed' about the future of Timo Werner amid speculation the striker could be on the move this summer.
Werner has been one of he most prolific forward in Europe this season, netting 21 goals in 25 Bundesliga matches, and unsurprisingly his red-hot form has caught the eye of several clubs.
The 24-year-old has reportedly emerged as one of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp's top targets as he looks to add competition in his ranks.
Chelsea, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are also said to have registered interest in the Germany international.
But Leipzig chief Mintzlaff has revealed Werner has given no indication that he wants to leave the club.
"I’m deeply relaxed about Werner," he told Sky Deutschland.
"He hasn’t signalled yet that he wants to leave at the end of the season and he doesn’t have to.
"He has a contract until 2023."
Meanwhile, former Reds midfielder Dietmar Hamann has admitted he is surprised that Liverpool have been linked with Werner when they have red-hot front three Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah in their ranks.
"I don’t think he’s a player for [Bayern] Munich or Liverpool [with] the way they play at the moment,"; the former midfielder told The Athletic’s Steilcast Podcast.
"I read quotes from journalists or people close to the club in Liverpool when he always said Liverpool is a great club [and that] Klopp is the greatest trainer, that he was a bit too forward in showing interest in going to Liverpool.
"Where’s he going to play? Even if Mane or Salah go, [then] out wide is not his position and the centre-forward position, the way they do play, is probably the most crucial one.

"Firmino is probably a bit underrated in some people’s eyes. He’s a ball-playing centre-forward, he probably doesn’t get the goals that other players get.
"But he brings other players into position and that’s certainly not Werner’s game, so [it’s] a no from me.’
He continued: "I’m really surprised that [Bayern Munich manager] Hansi Flick is so keen.
"We’ve seen him in the national team in certain games when he plays out wide he’s not tricky enough.
"You need trickery, you need to beat a player by shifting your weight.
"It’s not his game and therefore I’d be very surprised if he were to come to Munich."
