Wenger happy to sign new Arsenal contract when time is right

Arsenal boss manager Arsene Wenger says he is ready to sign a new contract but for now his focus remains on securing a first trohpy since 2005.
The Frenchman has been in charge for 17 years and hopes are high that the Gunners may finally end their barren run this season, particurlarly with
Wenger, 63, has turned down numerous offers from European giants such as Real Madrid, and most recently Paris Saint-Germain, during his spell as the current longest-serving Premier League manager.
But the former Monaco boss revealed he has no regrets and is happy to agree a new deal when the time is right.
"I’ve turned many offers down because I rate what I’ve got here and I’ve always thought this club is special on that front," he said ahead of Saturday's trip to Swansea.
"What is important is that you feel you can do your job where you are and I am very grateful to this club because during the 17 years we had ups and downs, they have always shown a big faith in me and they always let me do the job like I thought it had to be done.
"If I am still here today it is because I got that consistent support from inside the club.
"I always said that our job is 'work like you’re here forever and know that it can end everyday'. I would love to be here forever because that would mean I’m immortal but I’m not naive enough to believe that so I just would like to give the best for this club."
Arsenal currently top the Premier League and have won eight games on the spin in all competitions since an opening-day 3-1 home defeat to Aston Villa.
It is something that has surprised Wenger.
"No I didn’t expect that [topping the table] to happen as quickly as that," he added.
"Of course the season is long but as you have seen everybody at some stage or the other had a bad result and that allowed us to bounce back.
"The group has shown mentally a positive response. If you have a choice that’s where you want to be, it’s a very early stage and it’s a compact group of teams but we are there and we want, of course, to stay there."
The Gunners have a few fresh injury concerns ahead of their trip to the Liberty Stadium. Aaron Ramsey, who has been in sensational form, faces a late fitness test as does midfield partner Mathieu Flamini.
Wenger revealed he will not risk the Welshman, who has smashed in seven goals this season, but believes that both midfielders will be ready for the game.
It is a different story for England international Theo Walcott, who faces between three and five weeks on the sidelines with an abdominal problem.
