Manchester United transfer round-up: £50m Kai Havertz bid, Pogba’s agent holds talks with Real Madrid, Sancho latest

We still don’t know exactly when the 2020 summer transfer window will open but that has not stopped the rumour mill churning for Manchester United.

There are likely to be changes at Old Trafford for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side with both incomings and outgoings.

Man United have spent just shy of £200million over the past 12 months but they are still not in the place they want to be.

They are currently fifth in the Premier League and are battling Chelsea to secure a Champions League spot - but they're still way off the pace at the top of the table.

The club's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward warned there are unlikely to be any big-money deals this summer due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has wreaked havoc on football's finances.

There is still going to be movement, however, based on the latest transfer rumours and paper gossip.

Odion Ighalo

Let's start with a confirmed deal; Odion Ighalo will remain with Manchester United until January 2021.

Ighalo, the former Watford forward, joined the Red Devils on the final day of the January transfer window and he had scored four goals in eight appearances before football was halted due to coronavirus.

His temporary deal only ran until the end of the 2019/20 season, which finished last month, meaning Igahlo was due to return to his parent club Shanghai Shenhua over the coming days.

However, Man United announced on Monday that Ighalo has agreed to remain at Old Trafford until the final day of next January.

Paul Pogba

A report in France claims Pogba’s representatives have met with Zinedine Zidane and Real Madrid over a possible summer transfer.

report that Zidane met Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, before the strict lockdown restrictions came into force so they could discuss the proposed switch.

The France World Cup winner has been pushing for an Old Trafford exit for some time with Raiola only fuelling those rumours.

Solskjaer has made clear he wants to keep Pogba and would like to see him paired with Bruno Fernandes in midfield.

Kai Havertz

The attacking midfielder has been linked with some of Europe’s top clubs following his standout season with Bayer Leverkusen.

The 20-year-old has been in great form since the Bundesliga has returned and has seven goals in his past six games!

claim United are now leading the race for his signature.

It is understood the Red Devils will test Bayer Leverkusen’s resolve with an opening £50m bid.

But they might have to pay more to land Havertz with Leverkusen boss Peter Bosz valuing him at more than £90m.

Jadon Sancho

also report that Solskjaer wants to add Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho in a double Bundesliga swoop this summer.

The winger scored a hat-trick against Paderborn this weekend in their 6-1 rout of the bottom club.

Sancho is thought to be one of their top targets in the transfer window but will cost them more than £100million.

Manchester United's interest in the former Man City starlet has long been rumoured and this may be the summer they finally swoop for him.

But will it be affordable for the Red Devils to sign both Sancho and Havertz amid the financial uncertainty caused by coronavirus? We will just have to wait and see.

Alexis Sanchez

The forward’s loan deal with Internazionale of Milane is due to end on June 30 but the Serie A club want to extend his stay in Italy until the end of their season.

The coronavirus pandemic put a stop to football across Europe with leagues in Italy and England planning to resume this month.

This means the 2019/20 campaign will be extended until the summer and report that Inter want to keep Sanchez until its conclusion.
