talkSPORT's Hugh Woozencroft spoke candidly about racism on Tuesday night's Kick Off show and was joined by an extremely emotional caller, who shared a powerful message following the killing of George Floyd.

Mr Floyd, an unarmed black man, died last Monday in Minneapolis after a white police officer held him down by pressing a knee into his neck, with many organisations, brands and individuals coming together on Tuesday to spread the message that 'Black Lives Matter'.

'Blackout Tuesday' was a day promoted by activists to observe, mourn and bring about policy change after Floyd's tragic death.

The incident has affected people throughout the world, sparking angry protests, and one talkSPORT caller underlined how saddened he was that racism still exists in society.

Paul, a Tottenham fan, is married to a black woman and says 'every single day' she is discriminated against.

"You have to understand what this does to black people. I'm married to a black person. She's now struggling purely for being black," he said.

"Trust me, they don't understand it. Everyone uses a forum, but that isn't enough.

"My wife has been watching TV and seen all these god enough pictures on the news, and now she's struggling being black which has been the case throughout her life."

Hugh Woozencroft sadly hasn't been surprised about the horrendous killing of George Floyd, as it's not the first time something like this has happened to a BAME individual in America

He continued: "Unfortunately people are of different skin and you have to accept that and the person inside that skin is the most important thing.

"I'm telling you it is. I live in the middle of England and trust me it's an issue. You can walk in the street hand in hand with your wife, and a comment comes.

"We've got stub this out, we don't want to be like America. I'm telling you it's every single day.

"This has been going on for hundreds of years, and or I'll ask is that people respect that we're all human beings, we all bleed red, we're all the same."

You can listen to the call in full above.

Woozencroft, meanwhile, revealed how he was taken aback by the negative reaction to some of the discussions that have been aired on talkSPORT regarding this issue - finding many of those comments 'astounding' in the current climate.

"It was incredible to see what some of the talkSPORT listeners felt about Laura Woods expressing her opinion on the topic on talkSPORT Breakfast.

"I read the comments out to my partner last night. I found some of them astounding. This isn't anything new [George Floyd incident].

"I've seen videos in the United States of police brutalising black people and I've seen the same thing in the United Kingdom.

"I didn't need to see the video again, where someone is begging for their life. I didn't need to be traumatised again to understand what is going on in the country.

"And the feeling black people get when someone from their community is treated this way.

"It really struck me how painful it must be for some people to hear that racism exists or discrimination.

"If you don't care about how people are being treated then I don't know how the people who run talkSPORT feel about this, but it's probably not the station for you, as we do care."
