‘Arsene Wenger has been offered a new contract, but I’d take Claudio Ranieri at Arsenal!’ – Piers Morgan on talkSPORT

Piers Morgan has revealed to talkSPORT that Arsene Wenger has been offered a new three year contract to stay at Arsenal, urging fans to stop chanting his name if they want him to leave the Emirates.
The French boss has once again failed to win the Premier League, with Leicester securing the title on Monday evening, despite many believing the North London club would be favourites for the trophy.
Much of the blame for this failure has been directed at Wenger, due to his failures to improve his squad last summer.
Petr Cech was the only player signed before the start of the season - meaning Arsenal were the only team to not bring in an outfield player in the transfer window - and even in January the manager only brought in Mohamed Elneny.
Fans of the club have started turning on their manager due to all these failures on his part, but Piers Morgan revealed that the Frenchman has a new contract lined up to stay at the Emirates.
Speaking to the Two Mikes, famous Gunners fan Morgan said: "Wenger, I know for a fact, has a new three-year contract on his desk. He is, as he normally does, trying to strategically play the fans and the media to a point where he can legitimately sign that new £25 million contract.
"On Saturday, the fans had a chance to basically make their view known that it is time for change, but it turned into a massive damp squib. Yes, a few thousand did put their placards up, but it wasn't well organised and it didn't play out particularly well.
"What Wenger immediately did was turn this into: 'I was so surprised. I'm so delighted 80% of the fans are with me'.
"I know what this means. It means he is going to sign a new contract, and that means Arsenal will go another three years without winning the league and without winning the Champions League. If fans continue to chant Wenger's name, they will get him the three more years."
It is clear that a portion of the fans do not want Wenger to agree a new deal, and many want to see a manager such as Diego Simeone brought to the Emirates.
However, Morgan has admitted he would take Claudio Ranieri in a heartbeat, following the Italian’s success in leading Leicester to the Premier League.
He added: "I'd take Ranieri tomorrow. Because Ranieri has shown that it's not just about money, and Wenger can't compete at the top end with the big boys, or at the bottom end with the Leicester's who did it though heart, desire and committment."
