Jurgen Klopp sheds tears as emotional Liverpool boss dedicates Premier League title victory to Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard and the fans
Jurgen Klopp was in tears as he hailed Liverpool's Premier League title win as 'unbelievable' and 'more than he ever dreamed of'.
The German paid tribute to his players, the supporters and the influence of Sir Kenny Dalglish after Chelsea's win over Manchester City on Thursday night handed the Merseyside club their first top-flight championship in 30 years.
The enigmatic German had vowed to turn Liverpool from doubters into believers when he took charge in 2015 - and was overwhelmed to have delivered on his promise.
"It's the best thing I can imagine and more than I could have ever dreamed of," the Reds manager told Sky Sports News as he fought back tears.
"I have no words, it's unbelievable. It's much more than I ever thought would be possible, becoming champion with this club is absolutely incredible."
The last man to lead Liverpool to title glory, Sir Kenny Dalglish, joined Klopp to toast the triumph.
He paid tribute to the job Klopp has done at Anfield, hailing him as 'unbelievable'.
That prompted an emotional reaction from the Liverpool manager as he dedicated the club's success to 'King Kenny' as well as another Kop legend, Steven Gerrard.
"Knowing how much Kenny supported us, it is for you," he said.
"He has waited 30 years and it's for Stevie [Gerrard] who waited a long time. The boys admire you all and it's easy for me to motivate the team because of our great history.
"It was really tense for 100 minutes of the City game, I didn't really want to be involved but you are when you watch it.
"It's an incredible achievement by my players and it's a huge joy for me to coach them.
"I haven't waited 30 years, I have been here for four and a half years, but it is quite an achievement, especially with the three month break because nobody knew if we could go on."
Liverpool's triumph was secured with a record seven games remaining of the season.
Having already delivered Champions League glory, the title victory cements Klopp's legendary status at Anfield.
And he was quick to pay tribute to the Liverpool supporters for their role in the team's success.
He sent them this message: "Tonight I can only say (to the supporters), it's for you, it's for you out there.
"It's incredible, I hope you stay at home or go in front of your house if you want but do no more and celebrate it.
"It's all here. We are all together in this moment and it's a joy to do it for you, I can tell you."
