Manchester United make contact over Victor Osimhen transfer by calling 21-year-old forward’s agent

Manchester United have opened talks for the summer signing of Lille's highly-rated forward Victor Osimhen, reports claim.
Osimhen, the 21-year-old with 38 career goals to his name, has shot to stardom over the past year since moving to Ligue 1 from Belgian football.
He netted 18 goals in his debut season wtih Lille and has since been linked with a host of top European clubs.
The transfer race actually appeared to be all but over earlier this week as reports claimed Napoli were closing in on signing Osimhen in a deal worth more than €50million.
However, United have joined the race at the eleventh hour as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer bids to bring a new forward to Old Trafford.

According to , the Red Devils made contact over signing Osimhen by calling his agent 'hours ago' to be updated on his current situation apropos the proposed move to Napoli.
There is a feeling, however, that United's approach could be nothing more than a ploy from Osimhen's agent to speed up Napoli's negotiations and seal a better contract for the young striker.
Nonetheless, Solskjaer is keen on bringing a new forward to Manchester given Odion Ighalo is only remaining on loan with United until January, and once he departs there will be no attacking cover for first-choice trio Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.
This lack of cover was proven on Thursday, as Rashford, Martial and Greenwood started together for the fifth time in just 17 days as Man United overcame Crystal Palace to remain in the hunt for a top four finish.
