Werner sealed a £48million switch to Frank Lampard’s side in June.

He was not eligible to feature for the Blues for the rest of the campaign, but will be hoping to get up to speed before the start of next season.

The German will also also be hoping that he's signed for a side who play Champions League football next season.

Chelsea know a draw at home to Wolves will see them finish in the top four, but defeat could spell top-four disaster.

Werner, 24, signed off his time at Leipzig by netting a brace in their 2-1 win over Augsburg last month.

The goals were crucial not just for the three points which saw Leipzig finish third in the Bundesliga.

They also took Werner up to 94 for the club, making him their record goalscorer ahead of Daniel Frahn on 93.

It was fitting that the clinical young striker’s final touch of the ball for Leipzig would be a goal.

Chelsea have wasted no time in the transfer market and have also sealed a £33m move for Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech as Lampard looks to form a fresh attack.
