Manchester United considering shock move for Kasper Schmeichel to replace David de Gea next season

Manchester United are considering a shock move for Kasper Schmeichel, the son of club legend Peter Schmeichel.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a lot of thinking to do regarding who should be United's no.1 next season, with David de Gea's form suffering a huge slump over the last year.
Schmeichel, who still has three years left on his current deal at Leicester, is seen as a ready-made replacement.
The 33-year-old, who won the Premier League with Leicester four years ago, would be available for a much cheaper price than the likes of Atletico Madrid stopper Jan Oblak, who has a release clause of around £109million.
Solskjaer will also have 23-year-old Dean Henderson to consider following a stellar campaign at Sheffield United. Henderson was also on loan at Bramall Lane when they got promoted to the Premier League in 2018/19.
However, report that the Red Devils boss has doubts about Henderson and is thus considering other keepers, including Schmeichel.
De Gea is arguably the greatest keeper Man United have had since Peter Schmeichel but the Spaniard made a number of costly errors in 2019/20.
The Sun's report also claims that Solskjaer has sat down with his staff over the past few weeks to study De Gea's numbers over the past few years.
Henderson will want regular first-team football as he looks to secure a place in the England squad for next summer's rescheduled Euro 2020 finals.
Meanwhile, Schmeichel boasts seven years worth of international experience for Denmark and also played in the Foxes' run to the Champions League quarter-finals in 2016/17.
De Gea is currently on wages of £375,000-a-week at Old Trafford.
