NFL side San Francisco 49ers are hoping to increase their stake in Leeds United following their promotion to the Premier League.
The Whites ended 16 years of pain to win the Championship and secure a return to the top flight and it seems they could get a huge cash injection.
According to the , the 49ers want to buy a larger share of the club after purchasing a 10% stake back in 2018.
It is understood there is no timetable set for talks about the purchasing of an increased stake.
Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani welcomed the idea of an influx of investment from last season’s Super Bowl finalists.
However, the Italian admitted he would like to remain in charge at Elland Road for another decade at least.
The businessman is said to be acutely aware of the investment opportunities which will come with newfound Premier League status.
Radrizzani bought the club from Massimo Cellino in 2017 and the following year entered into a ‘strategic partnership’ with the 49ers, in which the US franchise would share business practices, while also purchasing the aforementioned 10% stake.
Asked whether further outside investment in the club was likely, Radrizzani told Sky Sports: "Yes definitely.
"Also because unfortunately… obviously we are happy, we enjoy the fantastic success we have achieved, but we have done it in a particular year that the impact of COVID is hitting the club financially.
"So we will need additional investment to be competitive and to continue our project, and maintain the league. So we will need to add on I think."
