Tottenham to complete Sergio Reguilon transfer and hijack Man United deal just like they did with Paul Gascoigne

There are few things more dramatic in football than a hijacked transfer at the 11th hour.
A last minute swoop from a third party never fails to shock the football world.
And Manchester United may be about to know how it feels considering Tottenham have pounced to sign Sergio Reguilon when it appeared the left-back was Old Trafford bound.
The Real Madrid man is said to be nearing a £27m move to London and it won't be the first time United have been pipped by Spurs to a player they really wanted.
It happened with Gazza and here, marvelbet369.com looks at other transfers that have been hijacked.
Paul Gascoigne
The England legend shot to stardom after bursting onto the scene with Newcastle United.
After he was named Young Player of the Season in 1988, several major clubs registered an interest in the skilful midfielder.
It is understood United were one of those clubs, with the youngster giving Sir Alex Ferguson his word he would be heading to Old Trafford.
However, in a mistake the Scot has openly regretted, Ferguson went on holiday and Gascoigne was snapped up by Tottenham at the last minute.
It is believed the promise of a house for his parents and a sun-bed for his sister persuaded him to join Spurs.
Questions will always remain about how successful Gascoigne could have become had he joined up with Sir Alex.
Emmanuel Petit
In 1997, the Frenchman was in London and talking to Spurs chairman Alan Sugar about moving from Monaco. Arsenal heard about the meeting and got word to him not to sign anything until the midfielder had at least heard what Arsene Wenger had to say, so Petit asked Sugar for time to think about his offer at his hotel.
Spurs even paid for the taxi to drive him back, but the player took a detour and went to meet Wenger and David Dein and the rest is history.
So yes, Tottenham paid for Petit to go and sign for the Gunners where he won the Premier League and FA Cup.
Eidur Gudjohnsen
In 2010, West Ham were under the impression Gudjohnsen would join them on loan from Monaco knowing that manager Gianfranco Zola, who played with him at Chelsea, would surely help. Wrong.
"The deal was on the verge of completion and the player even had a medical", co-owner David Sullivan revealed. "We then heard that Tottenham were trying to speak to the player. I can't say I am happy about it but I believe in karma and what goes around, comes around."
The 31-year-old forward duly joined Harry Redknapp's side for the rest of the season, with the Spurs boss adding: "I rang him and left a message on his phone and he came back to me and said 'I want to come to Tottenham.'"
John Obi Mikel
The Nigerian was incredibly presented as a Man United player in a 2005 press conference, only for Chelsea to claim they already had an agreement with the player’s agent.
The Red Devils subsequently asked the Premier League to launch an investigation and a one-year legal battle ensued between the English giants.
The Blues got their man after paying £12m in compensation, but his consistent and reliable performances over the years earned them back that fee and more.
Willian
The Brazilian forward looked all set for a move to Spurs in the summer of 2013 before the Blues swooped in at the last moment to sign him for £30m.
It is believed he even passed a medical at White Hart Lane before his phone buzzed with a call from Roman Abramovich.
The Brazilian was a fantastic servant during his seven-year stay at Stamford Bridge, winning two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, a League Cup as well as the Europa League.
He has now joined Arsenal as Tottenham's London rivals conspire to keep him out of their grasp.
Alexis Sanchez
The Chilean looked ready to join Manchester City in 2018 before a late £35m swoop from rivals United turned the the forward's head.
The winger agreed a £350,000-a-week switch to Old Trafford, despite remarkable reports suggesting Chelsea could hijack the hijackers late on.
The end of Sanchez’s Old Trafford nightmare was officially confirmed earlier this month as the 31-year-old signed a three-year deal to make his San Siro move permanent.
He scored just five goals in 45 games for the Red Devils, and even admitted he wanted to leave Manchester after his first training session.
Malcom
The highly-rated Brazilian was ready to join Roma in 2018 after the Serie A side confirmed an agreement had been reached with Bordeaux.
Giallorossi fans eagerly awaited his arrival at the airport only to be left seething when the winger failed to turn up and incredibly signed for Barcelona.
The Spanish giants swooped in with a better offer in the eleventh hour somehow the French club pulled out their deal with Roma.
