Winter: England shouldn’t throw away their experienced stars

The Daily Telegraph football correspondent Henry Winter caught up with Jason Cundy on Call Collymore and says experienced players such as Steven Gerrard should not be booted out of the England squad.
There is an argument that with England not expected to challenge for the World Cup next year, should they qualify, that it would be best to bring through younger players and test them on the grandest stage.
But Winter says the best squads are always made up with a blend of experience and youngsters and that the Three Lions would suffer without the likes of Gerrard and Frank Lampard.
He added the veterans, who have guided England through the qualification campaign, should be given one last opportunity to write their names into the record books.
