Gareth Bale’s return to Tottenham hailed by Clive Allen as former coach reveals how he wowed teammates in first spell

Gareth Bale left his Tottenham teammates in awe of his talents and his return would be a major coup for the club, says Clive Allen.
Allen, a prolific goalscorer in his playing days, was a coach at White Hart Lane while Bale was stunning the world with incredible performances week in, week out for Spurs.
His stand-out showings led to his world record transfer to Real Madrid but, after seven years in Spain, Bale has returned to the Premier League.
The Wales international re-joined the north London club on loan with the deal officially announced on Saturday.
Speaking earlier this week, Allen was looking forward to having Bale back at the club.
The Spurs icon Allen worked closely with Bale during his time coaching at Spurs, and he says the Wales ace is one of the most remarkable players in the game right now.
"For both parties, it would be a fantastic fit," said Allen to talkSPORT 2. "Gareth needs to play football and he will be warmly welcomed back to Tottenham. It would be a massive coup for the club.
"It will be so positive for the club at the start of the season to make this move."
He continued: “I was involved as a coach when Gareth was there and there were days on the training field when his fellow professionals would just go ‘wow, did we just see that? Is that what he can do?’
“And then obviously I was a party to it when we had that most memorable of nights in the San Siro when Gareth just proved to the world what a talent he was with the hat-trick he scored.
“He’s one of those players who is up there with the very best; a fit Gareth Bale can do the things no other player can do. His speed is exceptional, allied with technical ability.
"I wouldn’t imagine there’s a single Spurs fan not excited by the prospect of Bale returning."
Discussing how Bale will fit into Jose Mourinho's team, Allen believes a three-man attack is the way to go once the Welshman has reunited with Spurs.
He continued: “Bale is a natural lefty and will come off the left side to support Harry Kane, and Spurs need that balance.
“With Heung-min Son on the right, Bale down the left and Harry Kane through the middle – that sounds quite positive!”
Asked for his current confidence regarding the transfer being completed, Allen added: “At the moment I would call it 75/80 per cent, but the news coming out is very positive.
"Jonathan Barnett rarely says anything about his client and now that he’s saying he’s talking with Spurs it’s very significant.”
“Daniel [Levy] will do a deal, whether that is long-term in terms of Gareth coming back permanently, but there is always a solution and if anyone can find a solution it would be Daniel Levy.
“It will be so positive for the club at the start to the season to make this move.
