Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy agreement CONFIRMED with transfer likely announced today but Blues have doubts over Declan Rice and board against big-money deal

Edouard Mendy could be announced as a new Chelsea player TODAY, it has been revealed.
The Rennes goalkeeper is closing in on his move to Stamford Bridge, where he will challenge Kepa to become the Blues' new No.1.
Chelsea must register Mendy by 12pm on Friday if he is to feature against Liverpool on Sunday, and the glovesman's agent, Djily Dieng, announced on Thursday that the transfer could go through today with a deal agreed.
“The two parties have come to an agreement,” Dieng told Senegalese newspaper Stades. “All that’s left is the formalisation. It could even be done tomorrow, if all goes well.
“Afterwards, the player himself will come to finalise everything, including having his medical examination.”
Once Mendy is announced as a Chelsea player, the Blues had been expected to turn their attention to Declan Rice and finally launch a bid for the West Ham ace.
Frank Lampard is known to be keen on the former Blues academy player and he wants to convert him into a centre-back should he return to Stamford Bridge.
However, the chances of a transfer being completed this summer have been played down by , who claim Chelsea's hierarchy have doubts over spending upwards of £75million on Rice having already splashed out over £200m on signings.
Furthermore, staff at Stamford Bridge have doubts over Rice's technical ability with questions asked over whether he has improved enough since his release as a 14-year-old in 2014 to warrant a Chelsea return.
In any case, West Ham are determined to keep hold of the 21-year-old and are adamant he is not for sale at any price this summer.
