Manchester United closing in on second summer signing as Red Devils in ‘advanced negotiations’ for Porto left-back Alex Telles

Manchester United are reportedly closing in on the signing of Porto left-back Alex Telles.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on adding competition for Luke Shaw in his ranks having already missed out on new Tottenham signing Sergio Reguilon earlier in the summer.

His attentions have turned to Telles, who scored twice and provided an assist as Porto beat Braga 3-1 over the weekend.

The Brazilian has emerged as one of the best attacking full-backs in Europe in recent seasons and had a brilliant campaign last term where he registered 11 goals and also recorded nine assists.

United's need for reinforcements this summer was clear for all to see last weekend as they laboured to a 3-1 defeat by Crystal Palace at Old Trafford in their opening Premier League match.

And the club look to be closing in on their second signing of the summer, with outlet reporting the club are in 'advanced' negotiations to sign the 27-year-old Telles.

Telles has a release clause of £36million but United chiefs are confident of sealing a deal for around £22m, the report adds.

Meanwhile, United have once again been warned that their top target Jadon Sancho will not be sold this summer by a Borussia Dortmund director.

“Jadon has trained well and professionally,” Sebastian Kehl told . “He is happy to play football.

“Yes, someday he might leave for a new challenge but right now he is happy at Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Dortmund is happy to have him.

“He is here – and he will stay here. It was an important statement from the club because we have a certain responsibility. Without Jadon, this team is worse.”
