Dominic Calvert-Lewin could become better than Harry Kane under Carlo Ancelotti claims Carlton Cole, who hails Everton striker after another hat-trick

Carlton Cole insists there’s no reason why Dominic Calvert-Lewin couldn’t eclipse Harry Kane as the best striker in England, after the Everton ace continued his scoring streak.
The 23-year-old Toffees star led his club to a 4-1 victory over West Ham in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night with three goals at Goodison Park.
Calvert-Lewin has an incredible eight goals in five appearances this season.
His treble against the Hammers also made it back-to-back hat-tricks for him at Goodison Park, having also scored three in Everton’s 5-2 Premier League win over West Brom.
Incredibly, that makes him the first player to score hat-tricks in consecutive home games under manager Carlo Ancelotti since 2014.
The last player to achieve that feat? Only a certain Cristiano Ronaldo, with James Rodriguez also playing in all four of those games for Real Madrid and Everton.
James' arrival from the Bernabeu has been the main catalyst behind Everton’s recent surge, with the Merseysiders winning all of their six games in all competitions so far this season.
But Calvert-Lewin is the one sticking the ball in the net, and his purple patch has been well-timed with Gareth Southgate naming his latest England squad on Thursday for upcoming games against Wales, Belgium and Denmark at Wembley - and handing the Everton ace his debut call-up.
A place in the Three Lions set-up will inevitably lead to comparisons with captain Kane, who has been England’s first-choice frontman for years now.
But former Premier League striker Cole believes Calvert-Lewin could give the Tottenham man a run for his money, saying the Everton star actually has more strings to his bow.
“He’s the man right now,” said Cole on the talkSPORT Breakfast.
“We just heard Jose Mourinho saying how he wants Harry Kane to rest [and not play in England’s upcoming games], and he’s the perfect candidate to come in and do the role of Kane.
“And he’ll give his own little twist to it as well, I think he’s a really unorthodox striker.
“The way he plays is just really industrious, he wants to get on the end of things and I haven’t seen another striker like that, apart from probably Danny Ings.
“He’s more of a link-up player, he can assist as well. Remember, he used to play in centre midfield when he was in the youth team, so he’s got that natural gift to be looking for other players for them to score.
“He’s really unselfish as well. Harry Kane is really selfish, which you want your striker to be, but I think Calvert-Lewin wants to be more of a team player, not just going out there to get goals.”
Asked if he could become better than England skipper Kane, Cole replied: “Well, you never know under Ancelotti.
“Ancelotti is going to get the best out of him.”
Meanwhile, Ally McCoist was also full of praise for Everton on Thursday’s talkSPORT Breakfast show, and believes they will be a surprise package this season.
“Everton have been magic, they’re a great club,” said the Rangers legend.
“Last season they looked a little lightweight in midfield but I’ve always had confidence in Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison up front.
“Ancelotti seems to have sorted out that problem, they have more balance and more bite.
“It’s amazing. Two or three signings and everybody else around them seems to have lifted their game, and now they look a completely different side.
“I know it’s early, but I think Everton are looking in really good shape.”
