Manchester United offering less than £9m for Alex Telles but Porto demand higher fee

Manchester United are reportedly struggling to sign Alex Telles from Porto.

The Brazil left-back has less than a year left on his contract and is believed to be valued at around £18m.

However, Portuguese outlet claim the Red Devils are offering less than £9m to sign him.

The report adds Porto are willing to lose Telles for nothing next summer if their valuation is not met.

Telles is known as an attacking full-back and scored a brace in Porto’s opening day win over Braga last month.

Donny van de Beek, a £40million signing from Ajax, has been United’s only marquee signing so far.

With the international transfer window closing on Monday, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists the club are working hard to bring new players in.

On Friday, the United boss told talkSPORT: “You never know in football. You’re never surprised if anything pops up.

“We get speculation about us all the time. The club is working hard do what we want to do.

“I’m focused on the players we’ve got, ready for Sunday [against Tottenham], playing. That’s the sole focus in the coaches office. Let’s see what happens.”

United’s lack of activity in this summer’s transfer window has been widely criticised as club legend Gary Neville did not hold back on Twitter.

He said: “It’s appalling that in this market which is probably the easiest in PL history to get transfers done that United haven’t done more yet.

“They must get Ole a CB, LB and forward pre deadline! The others are managing to get things over the line why not United!”
