Said Benrahma is due back from international duty on Wednesday and will hold talks with Brentford ahead of his move to West Ham, talkSPORT has been told.

The forward was a late substitute in Algeria’s 2-2 draw with Mexico in South America on Tuesday, and is currently on his way back to the UK.

On his return, Benrahma will sit with the Bees to iron out his move to the Premier League after his proposed move to the London Stadium hit a snag this week.

The clubs have agreed a fee that could rise to as much as £30million for the 25-year-old, but it is claimed the Algerian is demanding loyalty bonuses from Brentford before he leaves Griffin Park.

And, according to talkSPORT’s transfer insider Alex Crook, both parties expect the deal to go through, with West Ham ‘confident’ of signing the forward before Friday’s 5pm domestic deadline.

“He played for Algeria yesterday against Mexico, so he’s making his way back to the UK now and there are talks scheduled with Brentford,” Crook told talkSPORT host Jim White on Wednesday.

“The main issue is this loyalty payment, but once he can get that signed off I think West Ham United will be his destination. They’re still confident a deal will be done between now and Friday.”

Alex Crook: West Ham still confident of signing Said Benrahma despite stumbling block.

And, according to Crook, that will likely mean former Hammers target Josh King will stay put at Bournemouth – at least until January – with the Cherries so far rejected two bids for the Norwegian ace.

“That will have knock on affects for Joshua King who, as it stands, is still at Bournemouth,” the transfer guru added.

“The only offers they’ve had are from Torino, which was rejected, and from West Ham over the weekend, which was rejected, so it’s going to be fascinating to see if anybody else comes in for him at the 11th hour.”

Harry Wilson to ‘take backwards step’ with another Liverpool loan

Liverpool’s Welsh forward Harry Wilson is set to leave Anfield before Friday’s deadline, with clubs chasing him.

The talented young winger will be shipped out on again, but to a Championship club, after his first full Premier League season on loan with Bournemouth last season.

Wilson shone during his spell on loan at Frank Lampard’s Derby County two years ago, which underlined his promise as a top player.

But it appears they haven’t been many takers for him in the top flight again this summer.

“I think this is probably a step backwards as far as Harry Wilson is concerned,” said Crook.

“He spent last season on loan at Bournemouth in the Premier League and scored some spectacular free-kick goals, and was linked with Burnley in the final hours of the international window.

“But, of course, under this new window Premier League clubs can’t trade with each other, so there’s no way they can resurrect that deal.

“The Championship does now look like his most likely destination, with interest from Nottingham Forest, Cardiff City, Derby County and from Swasnea City.

“Derby is particularly interesting because he has a year there on loan under Frank Lampard and helped them to the play-off semi-final.

“But I’m not sure this is the move Harry Wilson or Liverpool would have been hoping for earlier in the summer.”

The Huddersfield striker has been on the Baggies’ radar all summer, and they look set to final get their man with just days to go until the window shuts once and for all.

Crook said: “West Brom have been in the hunt for a striker since they won promotion to the Premier League.

“Their top target has always been Karlan Grant at Huddersfield, and that deal is inching ever closer.

“My understanding is it’s going to be a loan until the end of the season initially, and then an obligation to buy for £14million IF certain clauses are met – the key clause being if West Brom stay in the Premier League.”

Crook also revealed bad news for Barry Douglas, who is set to miss out on Premier League action AGAIN with the 31-year-old set to leave Elland Road and return to the Championship.

“Barry Douglas is on the move from Leeds,” said talkSPORT’s transfer man.

“There was interest from Watford in the Championship, but it looks like Blackburn have stolen the march on this one.

“You have to feel a little bit sorry for Douglas, because he was let go by Wolves having helped them to promotion to the Premier League in 2018, and it looks like history will be repeating itself.

“He’s had a lot of injuries during his time at Leeds, but of course they won promotion last season, they’re back in the big time after 16 years but seemingly Douglas is not part of their plans.

“That’s a deal that also should happen between now and 5pm on Friday.”
