Tony Cascarino is completely baffled that people believe Sergio Aguero is underrated, insisting ‘EVERYONE who has ever played the game’ knows just how good the Manchester City striker is.

There’s little doubt Aguero is one of the Premier League’s greatest ever goalscorers, and yet it appears the Argentine is often overlooked in any chat about the world's best players.

The 32-year-old's injuries probably haven’t helped him. In fact, it appears the striker is set for another spell on the sidelines after he picked up ANOTHER problem in Saturday's 1-1 draw with West Ham.

Aguero may no longer be at the top of his game at 32 years old, but there's surely no doubt he's one of the best to ever grace the Premier League

And yet, despite his persistent struggles with fitness, the Man City icon is still the top-scoring foreign player in Premier League history.

Aguero, who has just begun his tenth season in a City shirt, has 180 league goals – that’s more than Thierry Henry [175 goals], Robin van Persie [144 goals] and Cristiano Ronaldo [84 goals].

He’s certainly won enough, too, having played a crucial role in each of City’s triumphs since his arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2011, including four Premier League titles and the club's historic domestic treble in the 2018/19 campaign.

For some reason, though, there’s a feeling that he’s often passed over in any discussion about the best players to grace the English game.

Think about it, he Aguero widely regarded in the same bracket as the likes of Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, Didier Drogba and Wayne Rooney?

He’s one of those players who is often branded ‘underrated’ given the lack of praise surrounding him despite everything he’s achieved.

But Cascarino says the idea that Aguero – one of the English top flight’s most feared scorers – is underrated is quite ridiculous, and believes it could be due to his lack of European goals compared to the current greats.

“Sergio Aguero underrated? Well, you certainly can’t make that argument to Manchester City fans, they totally get how good he is,” the talkSPORT host said on Saturday’s Weekend Sports Breakfast.

“The problem is in Champions League football he’s been dwarfed by the obvious – Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

“Their numbers are just extraordinary, 100-plus Champions League goals, and that tells you how high the bar is for Aguero.

“But he’s been a fantastic goalscorer for a number of years.

Danny Murphy believes fans have taken Sergio Aguero for granted

“I don’t think he’s underrated at all, he’s one of the them that every player who has ever played the game knows how good he is. He is a natural goalscorer.

“I’ve played a with a number of guys over the years who just find goalscoring easy, when it isn’t!

“Aguero is one of them, he finds goalscoring easy!”
