Ayala completes three-month loan switch to Middlesbrough

Daniel Ayala has completed a switch to managerless Middlesborough on a three-month loan deal from Premier League side Norwich City

Daniel Ayala has completed a switch to managerless Middlesborough on a three-month loan deal from Premier League side Norwich City.

The Championship strugglers have strengthened their defence after one victory in their last 10 league outings as they slipped to 16th in the Championship standings, which resulted in the sacking of Tony Mowbray.

The Spanish defender was linked with a move to Tyneside before Mowbray’s departure on Monday, with the deal now completed in time for their match against Doncaster Rovers on Friday night.

Ayala has not featured regularly for Norwich since his £750,000 move from Liverpool in 2011, making only nine appearances for the Norfolk club.

He spent last season on loan at fellow Championship side Nottingham Forest where he struggled with injuries, playing only 14 times during a year long spell at the County Ground.

The 22 year-old has also had temporary spells at Hull City and Derby County, as well as appearing five times for Liverpool.
