The Ghana international has made a positive start to life in north London having completed a £45million deadline day transfer from Atletico Madrid.

And Keane believes the combative midfielder could be the missing ingredient Arsenal need to add much needed physicality to their side.

Speaking on Sky Sports ahead of the Gunners' trip to Manchester United, Keane said: "Arsenal oh yeah they've been lacking aggression for years. There is still a softness to them.

"I think he will be a good signing for them, I know he's only been in the door two minutes but give him a chance.

"He's got a lot of physicality in midfield that Arsenal lack."

He continued: "Over the last few years that has been one of the criticisms of Arsene Wenger's teams; technically very good but when the going gets tough a lot of their players go missing.

"I still think that's an issue with this team. I still think there's a softness to them, particularly in the back four or back five which they play a lot in some of the bigger games.

"So that's certainly a big problem for Arsenal."
