Ashley Barnes scores first Premier League goal in 970 minutes as Burnley move to within one point of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal with impressive Wolves victory

Ashley Barnes ended his 13-month barren spell in front of goal as Burnley battled to a hard-earned 2-1 win against Wolves on Monday night to extend their unbeaten run to four games and climb out of the relegation zone.
Barnes' goal was his first in 970 minutes of Premier League play, with strike partner Chris Wood also on target for Sean Dyche's men, who are now just one point behind Mikel Arteta's Arsenal with a game in hand over the struggling Gunners.
After a slow start at Turf Moor, Burnley made the breakthrough in the 35th minute as Barnes' goal-shy run came to an end.
Barnes, who replaced Jay Rodriguez in Burnley's starting line-up, was without a goal since November last year but muscled his way in to head home Charlie Taylor's cross.
Burnley doubled their lead six minutes into the second half after the vistors failed to deal with Ashley Westwood's free-kick.
Ben Mee headed the ball back into the danger zone where it came off Rayan Ait-Nouri before Wood blasted it into the roof of the net from point-blank range.
It was a nervy end to the game for Dyche's men after substitute Josh Benson's needless foul on Portugal wonderkid Fabio Silva inside the penalty area.
The 18-year-old stepped up from the spot to fire the ball past Nick Pope to halve the deficit becoming Wolves' youngest-ever Premier League scorer.
That was not enough for Nuno Espirito Santo's men to salvage anything from the encounter though, with the Wolves boss going on an incredible rant about referee Lee Mason following the full-time whistle.
