Sam Allardyce eyes Andy Carroll reunion as newly-appointed West Brom boss looks to bolster survival bid with Newcastle striker

Newly-appointed West Brom boss Sam Allardyce is reportedly eying a reunion with Newcastle forward Andy Carroll in the January transfer window.
The pair have previously worked together at both St James' Park and West Ham, with Allardyce in desperate need of bolstering his forward line to boost the Baggies' survival bid.
It has been a difficult time for Carroll back in the north East, having failed to register a single goal in 30 appearances since rejoining the club a year ago.
claim Allardyce will make an enquiry for the 31-year-old, which could be aided by his good relationship with current Toon boss Steve Bruce.
The towering forward has just six months remaining on his current deal at Newcastle and looks very unlikely to sign a new deal.
Interested clubs will be able to negotiate with Carroll regarding a pre-contract next month ahead of a potential free summer move.
It's also understood that Allardyce is interested in striking a deal with experienced defender James Tomkins.
The 31-year-old, who worked with Big Sam at West Ham and Crystal Palace, is fit and available for selection after recovering from a thigh complaint.
