Dele Alli was denied a deadline day move to Paris Saint-Germain by Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, leaving the midfielder and Mauricio Pochettino frustrated.

The 24-year-old has been out in the cold at Spurs this season and Jose Mourinho had been happy for him to exit on loan in January.

Pochettino, his former manager at Spurs, was eager to be reunited with Alli in France having taken over at PSG in December.

PSG were understood to have tabled three loan bids for Alli, who was desperate for the move to boost his chances of winning an England recall ahead of this summer's rescheduled Euro 2020.

But, despite Mourinho willining to sanction the switch to France, Spurs chairman Levy denied him the chance - much to the annoyance of the player and Pochettino.

Alli will now have to spend the remainder of the season in north London, which could be a crushing blow to his hopes of forcing his way back into the England set-up.

With Alli stuck at Spurs, the club's former manager Harry Redknapp is now urging Mourinho to bring Alli back into his team.

Alli has played just 164 minutes of Premier League football this season and Spurs are struggling right now, having won just two of their last nine games.

Redknapp said: “With Dele Alli, why not get him back on board? Sort him out, that’s your job. Get him playing again. What’s his problem?

“The kid was one of the best players in the country two years ago. You’ve got to find a way. He’s still only a young boy. Get him playing again.

“Don’t just discard people, get them playing. That’s your job.

“Make them feel important, make them feel like they’ve got something to offer, get them back to where they were.”
