Tottenham 2-0 West Brom: Jose Mourinho lauds Harry Kane after goal and admits delight at ‘sensitive’ Heung-min Son returning to scoresheet

Tottenham ended their run of three consecutive Premier League defeats on Sunday and also welcomed back Harry Kane from injury and saw Heung-min Son end his goal drought.
It was a positive day for the Lilywhites in north London, as Kane and Son both netted against West Brom to down Sam Allardyce's side and secure a first league win for Spurs since January 17.
The win moved Tottenham up to seventh and to within four points of the top four, and it proved that Spurs can perform to the best of their abilities when their attacking duo are on top form.
Kane returned from an ankle injury which has forced him to miss Tottenham's past two matches to score his 13th league goal of the season, while Son also struck to reach the same tally and end a run of five games without a goal.
And Mourinho was pleased with his two attacking stars rediscovering their scoring boots.
“We have other good players and a good squad, and the team is not about Harry," Mourinho told talkSPORT when asked about Kane's return.
“But you cannot hide that in the majority of teams there are special players that mean a lot; they mean confidence, self-esteem and playing with Harry is not just about the goals he can score but also his personality to hold the ball, to assist and to drop and play.
“Of course, he makes a huge difference.”
On the South Korea forward, Mourinho added: “Son is a very sensitive guy; he is a sweet person with a big heart, and he suffers in a special way when things are not going well.
“So I am very happy for him that he scored his goal.
“But more important for him than scoring his goal was for the team to win, to have a smile on his face to go tomorrow to the training ground and be ‘Happy Sonny’ again.”
Tottenham ended a run of three straight defeats - to Liverpool, Brighton and Chelsea - by beating West Brom, and Mourinho was impressed by the style of the win - not simply the securing of the three points.
"After three defeats we of course needed to win the match," added the Spurs boss.
“The way we did it was, for me, very good. It showed everybody that the team was suffering with the bad results, it showed everybody how together the boys are, it showed everybody how much they wanted to win, and I’m very happy with this commitment and this spirit.
“And when you are in a negative period, it is very hard to play a first-half like we did and cope with the frustration of having a tough time at 0-0.
“But, of course, in the second-half we scored the goals to get the victory, which I think we deserved."
