The model, whose split with Boateng was confirmed little more than a week ago, was found dead in Berlin on Tuesday and police suspect suicide.

“Yesterday at around 8:30pm there was a police operation in Charlottenburg on suspicion of suicide,” Berlin police said in a statement to . “There are no indications of third-party negligence.”

Bayern boss Flick told a virtual news conference. "This has stunned us. Jerome came to me and asked me to return home.

"After a negative [COVID-19] test he will return home and not be available until further notice."

Boateng, 32, started the 2-0 semi-final victory over Al Ahly in Qatar on Monday night, but will play no part in the final against Mexican side Tigres on Thursday.

The Germany international dated Lenhardt, who rose to fame on Germany's version of 'Next Top Model', for more than a year.

Their break-up earlier this month was played out in public as Boateng announced the news in a since-deleted social media post, while Lenhardt wrote on Instagram: "Now is where you draw the line. Enough."
