Jordan Henderson is a 'brilliant' leader, however, the Liverpool captain's behaviour during their defeat to Leicester doesn't sit well with Danny Murphy.

Having lifted the Premier League title last season, things are going violently off-script for Liverpool this term as they find themselves 13 points behind leaders Manchester City.

A poor run of results since December has seen Liverpool fall away from contention to win the title, with manager Jurgen Klopp conceding they can't retain their crown.

He said this after the Reds' defeat to Leicester last weekend which saw them concede three goals in eight second-half minutes in a capitulation at the King Power Stadium.

Shortly before James Maddison cancelled out Mohamed Salah's opener, the cameras caught Henderson berating teammate Thiago Alcantara, who gave the free-kick away.

The 30-year-old has been very vocal for many years of his career but Murphy believes Henderson could've handled things much better in that moment.

Murphy told talkSPORT: "We're talking about Jordan being frustrated in the game against Leicester where the players have made a mistake and he's had a little pop at Thiago.

"Look, it's not the end of the world. I like leaders and Jordan's being a brilliant one and still is for Liverpool - crucial. They've missed him massively in the middle of the park.

"I just don't like it when players get in their own players' faces too often on the pitch, in the crowd, or in front of the cameras.

"I don't think it sends the right messages. I think you can do it in a cuter way. Getting in people's faces is never ideal but it's a one-off."

Henderson and Thiago both start the first leg of Liverpool's Champions League last-16 clash against RB Leipzig on Tuesday night, which Murphy believes can help his former side regain confidence and momentum.
