Sir Rod Stewart joked he plans to phone Man City manager Pep Guardiola about taking charge of his beloved Celtic as he joined talkSPORT to react to Neil Lennon's resignation.

Lennon walked away from Parkhead on Wednesday morning, leaving the Hoops with them 18 points behind Old Firm rivals Rangers amid a season that has seen them stumble from 'one disaster to another'.

As the Gers close in on their first Premiership crown since 2011 and kill off Celtic's ten in a row chances, the Bhoys hierarchy must start hunting for a new manager to revitalise the club heading into next season.

The likes of Eddie Howe, Frank Lampard, Rafa Benitez and Michael O'Neill have all been touted for the job, while Scotland manager Steve Clarke is favourite to succeed Lennon in the Parkhead dugout.

But legendary rocker Sir Rod has bigger plans for his Hoops, as he revealed to White and Jordan on talkSPORT.

"I was going to give Pep a ring this afternoon!", joked the famous Celtic fan, before naming his realistic preferred choices for the job.

"I would love to see Gordon [Strachan] back there, but I don't think the fans would want him as it might be going backwards.

"But my money would be on Steve Clarke. He's done well for Scotland and turned Kilmarnock around, so I think he would do the job wonderfully well."
