Man United news: Sevilla sporting director Monchi’s best transfer business shows why Red Devils want him

Reports broke on Tuesday that Manchester United were trying to bring Sevilla sporting director Monchi to Old Trafford to oversee all transfer-related activity.
Since the departure of former chief executive David Gill in 2013, United’s transfer business has consisted of erratic overspending with very little return.

Ed Woodward has been openly mocked for his transfer acumen and in turning to Monchi, whose real name is Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo, he would be putting his faith in the perfect man.
Since joining the Spanish club in 2000, Monchi has spent a total of £36.4m for a return of £172.3m - a profit of £136m.
And that’s excluding the sales of players who came through the youth ranks such as Sergio Ramos, Jesus Navas, Jose Antonio Reyes and Alberto Moreno.
Sevilla are believed to have blocked Monchi’s desire to leave the club but this one could rumble on for a while yet.
