Everton stepping up Ronald Koeman chase as Toffees grow confident of luring Southampton boss away - report

Everton are growing increasingly confident of luring Ronald Koeman away from Southampton, according to reports.

The Toffees are still searching for a new boss after sacking Roberto Martinez earlier this month.

Majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri is understood to have earmarked Koeman as his top choice to succeed the Spaniard.

Koeman has worked wonders at Southampton since arriving at St Mary's in 2014 and the south coast club are hoping to tie him down to a new contract.

But the Dutchman, who has a year left on his current deal, has yet to commit his future to the Saints.

And,  Moshiri is confident of he can turn Koeman's head by offer him a huge contract and transfer warchest.

Everton are hoping for a positive development over the 53-year-old this week but are also talking to other candidates if they cannot convince him to leave Southampton.

Unai Emery - who masterminded Sevilla's third successive Europa League success earlier this month - is on their list of contenders.
