Manchester United legend Gary Neville has branded old rivals Liverpool a pub side after their latest setback in the Premier League.

The Reds suffered a sixth successive home defeat as they were beaten 1-0 by relegation-threatened Fulham on Sunday.

The result leaves Liverpool four points behind Chelsea in fourth, who have a game in hand and host Everton on Monday.

Former Red Devils star Neville could not resist mocking Liverpool fans for flying a banner over Anfield during the match which read ‘Unity is strength - let’s go Reds YNWA’.

In a Twitter video, Neville said: “So I’m just about to walk into the Etihad for the Manchester derby. United have a good record here over the last year or two.

“Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] has got a decent record against Pep [Guardiola], which not many managers have.

“But remember the most important thing today… as the plane that flew over Liverpool told us - unity is strength."

He then burst out laughing, before ending the video.

In an Instagram Live and another tweet, Neville dubbed Liverpool ‘the dog and duck’, a typical name for a pub in the UK.

He said: "Been watching Dog and Duck vs Fulham on my iPad. Remember, unity is strength, stay together!”

And he did not stop there as he also had a dig at his Sky Sports colleague Jamie Carragher, who used to play for Liverpool.

Earlier this season, the former Reds defender predicted Fulham would be making an immediate return to the Championship.

He said: “Fulham are going down. I’ve never been more certain about anything in my life.”

Including a short clip of the video with Carragher’s prediction, Neville said: “Over to @Carra23 for the final word."
