Exclusive – Ruddy deserves England chance, says Norwich boss Hughton

Norwich manager Chris Hughton says John Ruddy thoroughly deserves a chance to stake his claim for the England number one jersey.

With Joe Hart out of form, Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson is weighing up whether to give either Ruddy or Fraser Forster a first international start in Friday’s friendly against Chile.

And Hughton hopes Canaries keeper Ruddy gets the nod, telling the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast: “He’s been excellent for us this season.

“He has continued to be in that [England] frame and we are looking forward to him getting that opportunity. He certainly hasn't done himself any harm with his performances for us this season.

“At a time when perhaps the manager might look at other players, then John is certainly one that warrants his opportunity."
