Exclusive – Redknapp: ‘Capello has made some strange decisions’

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has been left bemused by Fabio Capello’s latest England squad announcement, saying some of the players who have been called up to face Hungary on Wednesday can’t even get in their club side.
Redknapp told talkSPORT: “It’s a strange squad. Suddenly there are all these players who weren’t good enough to go to the World Cup and are now all in the England team. It’s amazing really.
“We have kids in there who have obviously got good ability and hopefully have got good futures, but they are players who can’t get in their club team but can get in the England team.”
Asked what he thought about the omission of Spurs duo Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe he said: “I’m surprised because the best players are all still there. Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole, John Terry and Wayne Rooney have all kept their places, but everyone else has gone."
