Paul Pogba has given a damning verdict on Jose Mourinho's management style, claiming the former Manchester United boss would cast players aside 'like they don't exist.'

Mourinho was Pogba's record signing when he was given the Old Trafford job in the summer of 2016 - the Red Devils re-signing their former player for a then-world record £86million fee.

Man United won the League Cup and Europa League in the 2016/17 season, however, Pogba and Mourinho's relationship deteriorated after a trophyless 2017/18 campaign.

The spat reached its highest point in September 2018 when the player and manager were filmed arguing on the training ground shortly after Pogba was stripped of his role as vice-captain.

Mourinho was sacked as manager three months after that incident, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer succeeding him.

Pogba has a much better relationship with Solskjaer and has thrived under the Norwegian, and he explained what made the two managers chalk and cheese in an explosive interview with .

"What I have now with Ole is different, he wouldn't go against the players," Pogba said.

"He wouldn't go against the players.

"Maybe Ole wouldn't pick them, but it's not like he puts them on the side like they don't exist anymore. That's the difference between Mourinho and Ole.

"Once I had a great relationship with Mourinho, everybody saw that, and the next day you don't know what happened. That's the strange thing I had with Mourinho and I cannot explain to you because even I don't know. So, yeah."

Mourinho's relationship with Pogba's teammate Luke Shaw was a huge talking point during the Portuguese's stint at Man United.

Shaw was frozen out of the first team, with Mourinho accusing him of lacking football intelligence, although Shaw has said the manager was right to criticise him.

The left-back has flourished since being publicly criticised by Mourinho and has taken his game to new heights under Solskjaer this term.

"Maybe [Solskjaer's methods work] because he is a bit closer to the people," Pogba added.

"Every coach has their own way to coach and deal with players, and as a player you have to adapt. Sometimes it doesn't suit you and sometimes it does.

"Ole has helped Luke a lot, it was a difficult season with Luke and Mourinho, and he has proved he has the quality he always had and the trust of the manager."

Pogba also had his say on Mourinho's argument with Solskjaer following Man United's 3-1 win at Tottenham last weekend.

The pair clashed as Solskjaer was critical of Heung-min Son for his part in a goal scored by Edinson Cavani being disallowed.

"I don't know what happened," Pogba said. "I'm sure Mourinho said something that would make people speak, that's what he does.

"We got the result we wanted, Ole knows it and we enjoyed that moment because we know Mourinho and we know what he likes. We don't need this [war of words], we just focus on us.

"We won the game, he lost the game and he doesn't want to speak about the game, he wants to speak about the dad of someone, that's what he does. Everybody knows him, it's very Mourinho."
