Tottenham players told they got Jose Mourinho the sack, as Alan Brazil insists they won’t get a better replacement

Alan Brazil has hit out at the timing of Jose Mourinho's sacking and insists Tottenham will not get a better replacement.
Mourinho's 17-month tenure at the north London side came to an abrupt end on Monday after he was relieved of his duties by chairman Daniel Levy.
The Special One was axed just days before Spurs play in the Carabao Cup final, with Ryan Mason given the interim job until the end of the season.
And speaking on Thursday's talkSPORT Breakfast, the former Ipswich striker lamented the decision upon being quizzed by Ally McCoist.
Brazil responded: "A week before a cup final? No, no.
"I should have got on the phone and tried to find out, but nothing surprises me in football anymore.
"As one ex-player did said to me, it might just gee the players up if they were all so unhappy under Jose...
"But then look what Harry Kane said and what [Heung-min] Son said about Jose leaving - they were upset.
"It's not everyone. There's probably several players there who didn't like Jose's attitude and what he was doing.
"I would have thought the majority [would have wanted him to stay]. Just look at his track record."
"He continued: "A lot of Tottenham fans wanted him out - I didn't argue with someone but I spoke to someone.
"Who is going to come in that's better? They've got the best training facilities, they've got the best stadium, they get looked after.
"Have they not got a bit of pride in the shirt? Never mind who is coaching or managing.
"I tended to stick up with Jose but they weren't having it. Just before a cup final... I'm not having it.
"At the end of the season, yes. If you'd have said Jose it's not working out the way we thought it was, there's your package, see you later, thank you very much."
Meanwhile, Middlesbrough boss Neil Warnock has let rip at the Spurs players who he believes cost Mourinho his job.
Warnock, who revealed in a recent press conference that he regularly exchanges texts with the Special One, was disappointed to learn of his friend's sacking.
"What can you say about that," in reference to Mourinho's sacking.
"That was one decision that doesn't come over right to me. They've obviously got someone lined up.
"Once again the hierarchy are listening to the players, which is absolutely rubbish.
"Players will have got him the sack, and it doesn't surprise me at all. Unfortunately some owners just listen to the players.
"I've seen it in the past where disgruntled players deliberately say something because they know they won't get a look in. It's the modern world.
"Some owners listen all the time but some have got more common sense. Player power, call it what you want."
It's fair to say Warnock will be rooting for Man City on Sunday.
He added: "I did watch some of the last few Tottenham performances.
"I watched an England player look like he didn't give a damn and I did think then Jose's time might be limited, when this particular player looked like he didn't try a leg.
"The timing of it, the week before a cup final. Sorry but I can't remember Tottenham winning that much....
"It will be interesting to see how they get on on Sunday. I know now who I want to win."
