‘My heart is heavy but full of memories’ – Liverpool fans react to John Arne Riise retirement

It’s been a sad week for Liverpool fans.

First, former captain Daniel Agger retired. Then it was announced Kolo Toure was to be released. And now, John Arne Riise has revealed his retirement.

The flame-haired left-back spent seven seasons at Anfield between 2001 and 2008, winning, amongst others, the FA Cup, League Cup, and the Champions League.

And Reds fans quickly took to Twitter to pay tribute to the player, who will be fondly remembered for a number of brilliant goals, including a thunderous strike against Manchester United.
