Gareth Bale hails ‘great manager’ Carlo Ancelotti but says he is in ‘same boat’ over Real Madrid future

Gareth Bale has dubbed Carlo Ancelotti a ‘great manager’, but insists the Italian’s return to Real Madrid does not change his future.

Ancelotti left Everton to rejoin Los Blancos earlier this week, just six years after being sacked by club president Florentino Perez.

Bale, who has one year left on his £650,000-a-week Real Madrid contract, helped the LaLiga giants win the Champions League while playing under Carlo Ancelotti in 2014.

The Wales captain scored 11 goals in 20 Premier League games in a loan spell with Tottenham last season and previously said a decision on his future would cause ‘chaos’.

In an interview with , Bale revealed he is still in the ‘same boat’, despite Ancelotti’s reappointment at Real Madrid.

He said: “I know Carlo Ancelotti is a great manager. I get on with him really well, we had some great times in the past.

“He's returned to Real Madrid and he's a great guy.

"We had a great time together at Real Madrid and I'm sure he's going to be amazing in charge there.

"I spoke to him when we played Everton at the start of the season, we hugged and had a little chat which was nice.

"But I'm still in the same boat and haven't thought about it too much. I'm concentrated on our preparation now and what's going to happen in the Euros. I'll sort the rest of it after.”

Meanwhile, Ancelotti has tipped Bale to have a ‘great season’ back at Real Madrid if he is motivated.

In his unveiling as Los Blancos boss, he said: “Gareth has not played much in England, but he scored a lot of goals, he was very effective, especially in the final games when he played more regularly.

“I know Gareth well and if he has the motivation to try to play his best game he can have a great season, I have no doubt.”
