Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui rejects ‘dizzying’ offer to become Tottenham’s new manager as search for permanent Jose Mourinho replacement continues

Julen Lopetegui rejected a ‘dizzying’ offer to become Tottenham’s new manager, says Sevilla president Jose Castro.
Spurs have held unsuccessful talks with Antonio Conte, Paulo Fonseca and Gennaro Gattuso in recent weeks as their search for a permanent successor to Jose Mourinho goes on.
The Sevilla head coach is the latest name to be linked with the Tottenham job after the Spaniard guided his to an impressive fourth-place LaLiga finish last season.
And Sevilla chief Castro claims Lopetegui turned down the chance to join the north Londoners.
He told Spanish radio station Cadena SER: “Julen rang me and told me. He said he'd received offers he'd not listened to in addition to a dizzying one from Tottenham.
"But he said he doesn't forget things and that he is very motivated here. We believed and believe in him, giving him a two-year contract extension, and I'm sure he will bring much more to the club.
"You see his ability and leadership every day.
“Some coaches are more driven by economic factors but Julen is very clear that he is happy here and he even said it would be very difficult to find a better place to work than here."
Earlier this week, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed Tottenham are in ‘secret’ talks with five different managers.
He said: “They are in contact with many managers and are trying to keep it a secret.
“They have talked to five different managers in the last week. For example, I’m sure they contacted Ernesto Valverde on Friday.
“They were also talking with Ralf Rangnick, [Erik] Ten Hag has always been there but it’s not easy, I’m told that Ajax are convinced that he’s staying.
“They have many managers on the list and I think they will make a decision this week.”
