Jose Mourinho backs Harry Kane to be England’s top scorer at Euro 2020 and will score ‘two or three goals easy’ on way to final

Jose Mourinho has backed Harry Kane to overtake Raheem Sterling and be England’s top scorer at Euro 2020.

Tottenham star Kane had a slow start to the tournament, having not got off the mark until he headed home in the last-16 clash against Germany.

Sterling had been the only man to net for England up until the point the striker made it 2-0 against the Germans.

The Manchester City forward has scored three times at Euro 2020 and could be in with a chance of the Golden Boot if his scoring streak continues.

Not many would have expected Sterling to be England’s top scorer and Kane to be off the pace in the group stage.

Gareth Southgate’s side face Ukraine next and, if they win, will come up against Czech Republic or Denmark.

Mourinho believes that Kane, who he managed at Spurs, will still finish top scorer.

Speaking to talkSPORT Drive, he said: “He (Sterling) did amazing for City, last season was not amazing for him but the two seasons before, he plays wide, he plays centre-forward.

“The coach uses him in different situations. We look at Harry Kane and look at good players to play with Harry, he needs depth in the team, speed in the team.

“In the national team, Sterling is doing this for them. No, I wouldn’t expect Sterling to be the best scorer and no I don’t think he will be the top scorer.

“Harry Kane in the next two matches will score two or three goals easy.”

When asked if football is coming home, Mourinho added: “I think so. Football is coming home. The final is at Wembley and England will be playing in it.”
