Manchester United are understood to be making progress in their attempts to sign French midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.

The 18-year-old, who plays his club football for Rennes, has three senior France caps to his name but represented Les Bleus at the Under-21 European Championship instead of Euro 2020.

Rennes are opening to selling Camavinga for about €30million (around £25.7m) this summer, the reports. They could lose him for nothing next summer, when his current contract expires.

The report adds that Camavinga has been a long-term target for the Red Devils, who are 'making progress' with the player and club, but French giants Paris Saint-Germain are also interested.

And why wouldn't they be? Camavinga is rated highly by Man United star Paul Pogba, while his agent Jonathan Barnett labelled him 'the best young player in the world' earlier this year.

He wasn't part of France's Euro 2020 campaign but has been selected to represent them at the Tokyo Olympics.

At 17 years, nine months and 17 days, Camavinga became the youngest player to be called into a senior France squad since 1932 in August 2020.

Camavinga made his debut against Croatia the following month, making him their youngest debut since 1914, say Opta.

He's a product of the Rennes academy and made his first-team debut as a 16-year-old in 2019. He has 67 Ligue 1 matches under his belt.

Man United have been busy in the summer transfer window having confirmed they will be signing England star Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for £73million last week.
