Some prefer power - Cristiano Ronaldo's rocket against Porto comes to mind - while the outright ridiculousness of Paolo Di Canio's volley may float your boat more.
Ronaldinho, meanwhile, 'could do impossible things with the ball,' according to Frank Lampard who witnessed his goal against the Blues in the Champions League first hand.
"I’d never seen a player like that," he recalled. "It was my early knockings in the Champions League and seeing him play was like, 'Wow, this player is from a different planet to the rest of us'."
Some strikes are so good they even surprise the scorer like Marco van Basten, who scored one of the European Championship's greatest ever goals to win Euro '88 for The Netherlands.
"That was the moment where we could say: 'It is 2-0, we can win this game,' he recalled of the incredible volley.
"But the excitement about the goal, I did not really understand it and what I did. You can also see that in my reaction. I am asking: 'What is happening?'"
Describing his decision to smash the ball into the net from such a difficult angle, he told UEFA.com: "The ball came from Arnold Muhren and I was thinking, OK, I can stop it and do things with all these defensive players or I could do it the more easy way, take a risk and shoot."
