Jamie O’Hara urges Arsenal to go on transfer spree and sign Kieran Trippier, Mauro Icardi and Ander Herrera after woeful start to season

Jamie O’Hara has urged Arsenal to go and splash the cash in the transfer market after slipping to a 2-0 defeat to Brentford.
Goals from Sergi Canos and Christian Norgaard secured a precious first win in the Premier League for the Bees, but condemned the Gunners to the worst possible start.
The visitors looked flat from the first whistle, with the absence of both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette clearly an issue, but the performance was damning.
A lack of leadership seemed to be the real issue, with £50million signing Ben White bullied at the back and Brentford’s press causing real issues.
The displays from Kieran Tierney and Emile Smith-Rowe was perhaps the only positive on a tough start to the new campaign.
And former Tottenham midfielder O’Hara admits he was not surprised to see the club appoint Arteta back in 2019 instead of pursuing what some may decide to be more high-profile names.
“Arsenal are cheap, they just wanted someone to come in,” O’Hara said on the Sports Bar Weekender.
“If they had anything about them, they would have gone and Carlo Ancelotti or Brendan Rodgers when they could.
“It’s cheap and shocking and the recruitment is no good.”
Arsenal find themselves in a predicament whereby they need to bring in reinforcements, but their plight at this stage of the window means clubs can afford to inflate their prices.
Paris Saint-Germain reportedly need to drastically thin their playing squad after bringing in Lionel Messi and a raft of world class players on hefty wages this summer already.
And Manchester United target Kieran Trippier was linked with a return to the Premier League this season after rediscovering his form at Atletico Madrid and even earning an England recall.
O’Hara believes bringing in leaders with world class ability is the only way to stop the rot at the Emirates, even if the club have to part with considerable amounts of cash.
“They should sign Kieran Tripper, pay whatever they want – even if it is £30million,” he added.
“PSG need to get rid of some players; go and get Mauro Icardi up front and then go and get Ander Herrera in midfield!
“It looks like they’ve just signed Brighton’s second best centre-half.”
