Huddersfield Town welcome Everton to the John Smith Stadium in the Carabao Cup second round tonight.

The Terriers have enjoyed a decent start to their Championship season and victory over recently-relegated Sheffield United on Saturday made it back-to-back wins for Carlos Corberan’s side.

For Rafa Benitez’s Toffees, it’s been a good opening too after picking up four points from their opening two fixtures.

While the Premier League will likely be their priority, they’ll be hoping that they can mount a cup run starting against Huddersfield.

Huddersfield v Everton: Team news

Rafa Benitez has made nine changes to his team for tonight's game.

And it's a rare opportunity to impress for Moise Kean, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Niels Nkounkou who are all named in the starting XI.

Regular first-team stars Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Allan have all been given a welcome rest and are not included in the Blues squad.

Andre Gomes returns to the bench after self-isolating but Ben Godfrey and James Rodriguez remain absent.

Meanwhile, Huddersfield head coach Carlos Corberan has handed Danel Sinani his first start for the club after joining on loan from Norwich.

As expected, both Pipa and Jordan Rhodes miss out due to injury.

Huddersfield v Everton: What’s been said?

Huddersfield boss Carlos Corberan: "It's a fantastic opportunity for us being able to continue the Carabao Cup. I need to analyse the full squad and see who needs minutes.

"Everton will be a tough opponent, whoever they choose to play. Rafael Benítez is a fantastic coach, he's one of the first Spanish coaches to have a really big impact outside of Spain. He's got a very good squad, so we know it will be a high challenge.

"We want to be brave when we have the ball. We might not have had many chances against Sheffield United, but the ones we did were because we were brave when we recovered the ball."

Everton boss Rafa Benitez said: "I would like to go through, I would like to play a strong team to compete and go through. Yes I would like to do that.

"Can I do it? We have to see if we have any knocks, any injury problems, and then see how the players feel.

"I like to go through, I like to do well, and I will try to pick a team that can do it.

"The schedule is too short now for us, a lot of players were coming back late from the Euros or the Olympics so we have to consider all of these things.

"We will look for solutions for different players until August 31."
