Donny van de Beek will have raised eyebrows when he picked his Manchester United five-a-side team.

That's because there was no room for the likes of Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and club legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Dutchman isn't having the easiest of times at Old Trafford and he may now get more stick for his answer when queried about his teammates

When asked about who would make his Red Devils five-a-side team, Van de Beek told Rio Ferdinand's YouTube channel : "That’s a good question.

"I think I would pick Raphael [Varane]. I am a big fan of Juan as well.

"You have to pick Bruno [Fernandes], because he scores a lot of goals and a lot of assists. I would go for Luke Shaw, and Nemanja Matic as well."

Explaining his decision, Van de Beek added: "I think this team would win.

"We have so many players, I have to make a tactical decision – the best players don’t always win, the team wins."

It's testament to Man United's depths in quality that such big names were left out by Van de Beek.

But the harsh reality is the 24-year-old has struggled to establish himself since moving to Old Trafford a year ago.

And the re-signing of Ronaldo is 'bad news' for Van de Beek's career, the Dutchman's agent recently admitted.

"Cristiano arrived on Friday which we knew was bad news for us," Guido Albers said.

“[Paul] Pogba plays on the left, and with Cristiano’s arrival it means another extra player in midfield with Pogba moving away from the left."
