Marco Asensio shows why he was a transfer target for Tottenham as Real Madrid winger hits superb hat-trick to send Los Blancos top of LaLiga

Marco Asensio exhibited just why Tottenham were chasing his signature in the summer by hitting a superb hat-trick for Real Madrid as they thumped Mallorca 6-1.
Asensio looked to be on his way out of the Bernabeu and Spurs were one club who were willing to splash the cash to snap him up.
But that might have changed now as the Spain international was on electric form against his former club as Los Blancos returned to the top of LaLiga.
He scored twice in five first-half minutes - either side of Lee Kang-in's well-taken response for the visitors.
He then found the bottom corner to make it 4-1 10 minutes after half-time.
Karim Benzema (twice) and Isco also found the net for Ancelotti's side, who leapfrogged local rivals Atletico at the top of LaLiga.
Atletico had moved top following a 2-1 win against Getafe but they now remain two points behind Ancelotti's side - with both teams unbeaten after six games.
Prior to the game, however, it was reported that Asensio was ‘not happy with the role he has under Carlo Ancelotti’ after only playing 69 minutes in all competitions.
It is said he is open to a move away in January if he continues to have a bit-part role, though his treble may now have cemented himself a spot back in the XI.
The Real Madrid attacker's contract expires in June 2023 and ‘if a good offer arrives, the club will not reject it if the player requests to leave’, with Spurs and AC Milan both said to be interested in making a move at the turn of the year.
